Back on Illustrator this week, It was really interesting as what we did was copy or trace the Starbucks logo. I started off my drawing some lines starting with the star on top of her head and worked my way down her body. I found out how to move the lines so they fix perfectly to the shape by drawing on top of the image but on a different layer. When it came to the hair I made my life easier by copy and pasting the hair line so it saves drawing them out again. Then after this I then moved the lines so they would all line up. To them Copy and paste the right side of the hair over to the left side. Last thing I Had left to draw was the bits to the side which are either legs or something. which again I could copy it over to the left side.

After this I then added in a green circle around the girl to match the Starbucks logo. Then followed by selecting all of the lines I drew and turning the insides of them white, and also un whiting them such as the bit under the star, nose and mouth. After all of it was coloured white I was nearly done. At the end I needed it get rid of the lose ends, So i selected the lines and by pressing the alt button i’m able to delate the remanding of the lines. this makes it nice and neat when it come to presenting it.

Now I am finished I can save it and move on, but first if I was to change anything of my logo I would change the shade of green so It matched the Real Starbucks and also I would also remove the black lines Just to make it that much Better.

Using Brackets #3

Back into brackets again today. Instead of working from last weeks we all started from the same document so we can work on from there. We started with this code that we had to edit in-order to make it have a navigation bar which included the buttons ‘home’ ‘about’ and ‘contacts’. After we changed it to have the navigation bar, I then made it so the buttons where side by side instead of on top of each other. After this I made the buttons have padding so they look more button like and also when hovered over it should turn black and the text turns white. I then made the buttons link to different pages but at this stage they look the same but with different words but they are different. Then I made a new page that just hold the Nav bar. This means that I can change my code in the other pages so it links back to the nav bar page.

After this I then needed to change my work too PHP. So I had to use another program called FileZilla. After signing into the sever and changing all of my files to .php files, I then had to copy all my file into this document but had to keep adding them every time I change something. So when I changed the File to add in the nav bar I misspelt something and it didnt work. I then had to go back and change it and then upload them again on FileZilla and refresh the page in-order to see that it has changed on the webpage. Then to test it I could press each button and see that it changes pages.

Inkscape #1

Screen Shot 2014-11-20 at 11.16.39 Screen Shot 2014-11-20 at 11.17.07

First workshop in inkscape. I started by drawing a circle and also drawing a rectangle halfway over that circle. I then erased the rectangle so I then was left with a semicircle which I then stretched downwards and added flicks on at the end. After this I then added another semicircle slightly above the the other one by doing what I did before again. I also added a square  into the semicircle and then deleted it so in that space I could add a circle witch i then sent to the back of the shapes.

This is starting to take shape for my final design. I next worked on the hair, which I just changed the angles of the lines do they can make some funky hairstyles. Next I moved onto the eyes, I did this by drawing a oval and then added some curvy lines which looks like eyelashes. After this I coloured it in black and then added 2 white circles inside of the eye followed by 3 cute stars in the eye for some real manga looking eyes for my Japanese girl which I then grouped together and then copied and mirrored it to make the other eye.

To finish it of I then placed the eyes onto the face to make them look like a girl, I also added 2 ovals for the blush on the girls cheeks and lastly I made the mouth by adding 2 circles and a triagnle all together and placing it where the mouth belongs. Then to tie it all together I made her dress red and now I have my Japanese Girl.

Illustrator #1

Screen Shot 2014-11-20 at 10.58.17

First lesson Illustrator we started by adding in random shapes, The first two I added was a square and hexagon. I started messing around them and making the corners of the square smooth and rounded, Also I got round to changing the colour and border of the shapes. This could have been pattern, gradient or solid colour. Then was asked to join them both together, But that didnt really work… I ended up making blending them together so I already failed.

I then started working with the stars. After attempting to join the shapes together again I managed to do it. Then I worked with overlapping and underlapping my shapes. I had to draw a few different stars on my page and send some back a layer and others I sent to the back, Where others I then brought forward. Then I wanted to test the pen toll and started to draw smily face’s onto my stars for the sake of it. I then selected the grey star and messed around with the corners and made them cute like cookies. Lastly I then selected all of my shapes and groped them as one big shape. After this I then copied the and flipped it vertically so it mirrors across the page to finish it off

Today in the workshop I expanded my skills using the program ‘Brackets’. I was told basically to try and make the same as what was shown to us. I started of by importing the text across and making that work followed by the images and then the background. After I had all of that vital information imbedded into my code I then just have to mess around which a few settings which meant a lot of trail and error to get it right. This included a lot of edits in sizes, text, layout, margins, padding and colours. I also changed the opacity of the boxes and increased it more when you hovered over any of the boxes. After this I wanted it to be a bit different and be more adventurous so I made it turn to a grayscale when it is hovered over with the mouse. Then to finish it of i went and added in some transformations for all the objects on the page. They would slid up from the bottom left and slide up the side, then work its way into the centre of the screen in till its in the right place. This was quite a fun task to do in the workshop and I really enjoyed it.

Starting Development and Realisation

Yesterday I received my brief, I have to do two things. the first one of which is making a weblog to make notes of my step by step progression of my project. so every time I do something I will need to write it up. So i’m planning on added that weblog to this one so i can keep all my work together but will make it so its all placed in a different category to the rest of my work so its all together. The second one is a project for making a visually interesting A2 poster that also provides data within it, We can choose from many different subjects but I think i have chosen to go with..

-What is your social network? Visualise your Facebook social network using Facebook’s classification of close friends, family and acquaintances

This is because i think it will make the project a lot more interesting to base it around my life and see what really is my social network. I plan an using lots of symbolic images in my poster and have it look simple yet also effective. How i’m going to do that i have no idea at this day and age but with a bit of research it will soon come to me.

I have been looking at the other people’s work and how it can help me think of different ways I can do my poster. I found these posters on a website called ‘Information Is Beautiful’. This website has some amazing ideas I could include in my work, but also just interesting to view even if they have nothing to do with my work. Im hoping to make my poster like these, something people will find interesting and will want to read it. I think I will have to explore my ideas next and wonder on from there.

Spinning Vortex of Sparkels

Screen Shot 2014-11-13 at 11.58.51Screen Shot 2014-11-13 at 11.01.34

So I started on PhotoShop, Just by drawing random purple rectangles and pink circles all in a line. Then I made all the individual shapes become one, this is so i can move it round and do things with it as one item and not different ones. I then had to change the pivot point of the new shape to the bottom left and changed the angle to 10 degrees. I then pressed SHIFT, ALT, CMD as well as the letter T all at the same time. This meant it would copy the original shape and transform it by rotating it 10 degrees each time i pressed these buttons. Eventually it would make a circle and look totally different. Next I repeated the whole process again but this time I drawn it with the brush tool instead in black. When this was done I laid it on top of the other one and then saved it.

Then i took my work into AfterEffects. From here I imported the PhotoShop files so I could work with them, but before I continued onwards i first added a background which was a preset 4 colour background that i edited so the colour shame would match my designs. I soon added the circles into the field and then made them spin round in circles at different times. Lastly I added in particles in a explosion formation that spread across the screen, I also turned off the gravity so they would fly across the page. which I soon turned into stars that look like sparkles which i also changed the colours off. Then rendered my work and then you could see it come to life, you could see the circles spins around the sparkles looks as if they are flying outwards. And like I said!… Spinning Vortex of Sparkles!

Winter Wonderland in AfterEffects

Screen Shot 2014-11-13 at 10.49.46 Screen Shot 2014-11-13 at 10.53.33

So at the start of the workshop I had to find a random image of a Winter scene, I chosen this one of a snowy path. I then imported the image I then added this particle function which I stretched across the page so it would cover the whole image. The particles basically look as if they are falling downwards because it has a gravity setting on it. This is perfect as it looks as if snow is falling. The only problem is, is that the particles are bright yellow and red. So i changed the colours to white and a light blue and also made the particles bigger so it looks a bit more like snow. Then I changed the camera settings to zoom in down the path so it looks as if you and strolling down the path in the snow. After I did this I  was able to render my work and save it so I then and able to see the video of snow falling as the camera zoom in down the path.

Using Brackets #1

Screen Shot 2014-11-11 at 15.42.01 Screen Shot 2014-11-11 at 15.49.32

First time using Brackets today. I started out with three columns of text which I had to edit so the code works when you load it up on a webpage. After making it work i then put boxes round the text and changed the colour of each of the boxes. After this i then made the boxes change colour when you hover over the box. such as my aqua colours box would turn pink when the mouse hovers over the box. Then I tried messing around with settings for when I hover over the box, I changed things such making the text turn all uppercase and turning the box into a oval. Then to finish of the day by adding in a transition, the transition i went with was for it to slide left and jump about a little like shown in the image below. I don’t like how the circle is bigger than the rectangles so I will most likely want to change that out of everything from this workshop.

Look! Im on TV! AfterEffects

Screen Shot 2014-11-19 at 13.15.34 Screen Shot 2014-11-19 at 13.16.04

Look i’m on TV! Yeah not really but I really liked this effect. So what I did to start with was hold some green cardboard behind my head. Then i headed onto a program call Photo Booth to just take a video for about 10 seconds of me messing about. This was quite awkward as I had no idea what I needed to do. So in the end I just looked awkward and stuck my tongue out.

After this I then imported the video into AfterEffects so could then change it about and make it into the final piece. So I started by finding an image of an old TV I could use. After this I then changed a few settings with my video such as taking out the green screen and smoothing the edges, I also increase the contrast and then changed it to black and white. Then all i had left to do was add the static into the TV behind me. What i did was make a rectangle of a pattern I had found. When you increased the number of cells in the pattern the circles got smaller to the size just like on TV, I then placed this rectangle to the back of the layers. Then I worked on the TV layer, What i had to do was erase the screen part so you could see me thought it. After this I then moved this layer to the top so the lose ends of the other layers hid behind the screen.

Lastly what I had to do was add my text ‘Hello i’m Tina’. I did this by writing out each word on different layers so i could change each one and make them move differently to the rest. I started with the word Hello! I made this huge and at the top sat on the wall. the transition for this text I choses was that it would bounced inwards from the right. Next was the work i’m which i made really small and let it grow into size. Last of all the word TINA! which i made drop down from the top and fall into place with a bit of a bounce. This looked amazing tho thing I would change is that when i was erasing the green scene it also selected some of my bracelets and now I have and invisible bit in my arm.Besides that this project was fun and I enjoyed making my video,
